From the book “Diseases of the Modern Age” by Dr. Wahid Abdel-Aal, page 44: Worms are parasites that infect humans and animals, and infection is easily transmitted. They are more common among children due to frequent contact. If one family member is infected, it quickly spreads to the rest of the family. The infection is transmitted in several ways: through bedding, underwear, using toilet seats, and consuming food or drink contaminated with worm eggs. Treatment is difficult, so prevention is very important. Prevention is better than cure, and prevention involves continuous and thorough hygiene. These worms can even be present at the anus, forcing the patient to contaminate their fingers with worm eggs, which can then be swallowed or eaten unknowingly due to poor hygiene practices.

I will discuss methods of preventing pinworms, roundworms, and worms in general—especially in children—and preventing their recurrence after treatment. These are small white worms that are transmitted from an infected child to a healthy one through food or drink. They enter the intestines and exit through the anus, causing itching and discomfort around the opening. This can prevent the child from sleeping due to excessive crying and screaming from the pain—they might say, “An ant is biting me!” They also have psychological effects, as they can affect a child’s concentration in school.

1- Accustom the child to washing their hands thoroughly before and after meals, and after using the toilet.

2- Trim children’s nails regularly and change their underwear every day.
3- Instead of bathing at night, get the child used to bathing early in the morning, which will prevent the spread of eggs at night.
4- Ventilate rooms and open curtains every day, as worm eggs are affected by sunlight.
5- After the child has been treated for worms, they should adopt healthy habits such as regularly changing their underwear, pajamas, and bed linens, and monitor the child’s adherence to these practices.

Treatment Methods

1- Wormwood
After fasting for 15 hours, the patient drinks a decoction of wormwood. Boil some wormwood in two cups of water until it reduces to one cup, but do not let them smell it at all so the worms don’t escape and hide in the intestines. Then, chew a piece of fried meat without swallowing it so it absorbs the flavor without being eaten. Remove the piece from your mouth and drink the decoction of wormwood all at once. This tricks the worms by first starving them and then by making them smell the meat. Instead of food, the wormwood will pass through and eliminate them. 1. Drink a large amount of wormwood tea, then turn from side to side. An hour later, take a spoonful of castor oil as a laxative. The dead worms will be expelled. Repeat this process for 3-4 days.

The more wormwood tea the patient drinks, the more their stomach will be cleansed of worms.

  1. Garlic: The patient takes a clove of red garlic, coats it externally with olive oil, and heats it directly over a fire until only the peel is charred. Then, remove the charred peel and wait until the clove is warm but not cold. Coat it again with olive oil and insert it into the anus. Repeat this process for a full month before bedtime. On the 29th day, drink a decoction of senna (one teaspoon in one and a half cups of water) on an empty stomach in the morning. The dead worms will be expelled by evening, God willing.
  2. Applying garlic in olive oil around the anus will stop the movement of worms in this area and help children sleep peacefully.
  3. Costus root (also known as Indian costus) is boiled and a cup is drunk on an empty stomach without sweetening. This is one of the most important treatments for worms and viruses.
  4. Castor oil One spoonful on an empty stomach daily and before bedtime.
6- You can use over-the-counter medications such as Bendax syrup, Antivir, or Vermazol syrup or tablets.
Take any of these twice daily before meals and repeat two weeks after finishing the treatment.
Important note: If anyone in the household is infected with worms, the entire household must be treated because they spread very quickly and easily, as I explained above.
